Top Albums of 2009 So Far The Conclusion

Here are the top 15 albums that I've heard so far this year.

15. Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue - I probably would not have heard of this album without the review that Pitchfork wrote for it, this is another one of those albums that is great to zone out to while listening to it.

14. Oceana - BirthEater - This is an interesting album dealing with Abortion, its more on the heavier side but is definitely a solid album that is great from beginning to end, unfortunately this band broke up not too long ago.

13. Dinosaur Jr. - Farm - I really enjoyed their first comeback album Beyond, however I enjoy this album a lot more, I found it to be a lot more cohesive and makes me look forward to their next album.

12. Bomb The Music Industry - Scrambles - Another solid album by this band, this one sounds a lot better than their previous efforts and you can download it for free from the labels website, quote unquote records (although you can't go wrong by donating some money).

11. Manchester Orchestra - Mean Everything To Nothing - I think I'm in the minority when I say that I wasn't the biggest fan of their debut album, I thought it was good but I never found myself wanting to listen to it again, this album changes that and I've found myself listening to tracks from this album a lot.

10. Cymbals Eat Guitars - Why There Are Mountains - I've realized that i'm not the best person of describing these albums as to why I like them or not, I try to not put the same thing for every album with that being said just preview this album on Amazon and decide if you like it like I do.

9. The Paper Chase - Someday This Could All Be Yours Pt. 1 - I've loved this band for a while however I felt their past releases were dragged down by uncessary parts on the albums, this album gets rid of these giving them their most listenable album yet.

8. The Thermals - Now We Can See - This was one of my most anticapated albums of this year and it did not dissapoint, it doesnt stray far from their formula of their past albums but does just enough to make it an improvement and highly enjoyable album.

7. K'Naan - Troubador - K'Naan is an artist originally from Somalia, and let me say that this is some great music, it has track after track of solid listening, and that is what makes a good album in my opinion, no throw away tracks and the ability to be listened front to end without wanting the music to end.

6. Fake Problems - It's Great To Be Alive - SideOneDummy records has signed some amazing bands recently, last year it was The Gaslight Anthem and now Fake Problems this albums is better than their older stuff which I really liked, it's just a great album to listen to.

5. E-603 - Torn Up - E-603 is a mash-up artist like Girl Talk, and this album is just as good as his most recent album, I can't get enough of Track 9 on the album which features Lil' Troy rapping over Modest Mouse, It's up as a pay as you want on his website.

4. Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca - This is definitely their most accesible album to date, song after song of quality music I can't get enough of the song Stillness Is The Move it is really catchy and gets stuck in my head (in a good way) for hours after listening to it.

3. Sights & Sounds - Monolith - This band is a side project of the lead singer of the band Comeback Kid, this album covers a wide variety of music during its running time and I find myself wanting to listen to this album again and again.

2. P.O.S. - Never Better - First this album deserves extra points for its innovative packaging, which gave me a reason to actually buy the hard copy, in my mind P.O.S. is everything that rap music should be but isn't, if you're not a fan of Rap you should try listening to P.O.S. and he just might change your mind.

1. Animal Collective - Meriwether Post Pavillion - I guess a kind of cliche choice to put at number one but I really can't think of another album that I've listened to or truly enjoyed as much as I have this album, enough said.

So there you have my top albums so far of 2009, I can't wait to hear what the rest of the year has in store for me with some great albums on the horizon it will be interesting to see what this list looks like by year end.
